The story
Estro Vino e Cucina is a contemporary Venetian kitchen in Venice, and Michelin awarded it a Bib Gourmand for 2026 for good quality, good value cooking. The brothers Alberto and Dario Spezzamonte opened the restaurant in 2014 as a place where the kitchen and the wine cellar carry equal weight.
Alberto Spezzamonte has led the kitchen since the first day. The menu rests on four ideas: seasonal produce, terroir, respect for tradition, and quality, all reworked in a contemporary way. Lagoon fish and garden vegetables appear throughout the menu, so the dishes change with what the market brings in.
Char-grilled Sant'Erasmo artichokes arrive with local clams in a pil pil sauce and chervil. The calamarata di Gragnano comes simply with butter and anchovies, and the risotto takes its cue from French onion soup, with onion stock, charred onions and lime powder. Saffron-scented Adriatic monkfish is served with potatoes, ginger and fried shallot. Desserts are rich and classic, and tiramisu is on the list.
Dario Spezzamonte runs the front of house and the cellar, which holds more than 700 bottles, mostly natural wines and many from outside Italy. The room is roomy by Venetian standards and works as both a wine bar and a gastro-bistrot. Spritz is not on the menu by choice, which the owners explain as a stand against drinks sold as local tradition.
