The story
Zia, at via Goffredo Mameli 45 in Rome, is a modern Italian restaurant that earned one Michelin star in 2026 and ranked 31st in the 50 Top Italy Grandi Ristoranti list.
Antonio Ziantoni, a Roman chef, leads the kitchen. Before opening Zia he trained under masters, including Anthony Genovese, and cooked in several places. The Italian cooking here follows the seasons and combines traditional recipes with contemporary technique.
Zia offers two tasting menus, of five and seven courses, and an à la carte menu where guests choose at least three items. The guide cites buffalo mozzarella, lemon and gentian risotto, and venison in sweet-and-sour sauce among the dishes. The cooking is precise and restrained rather than showy.
