The story
Abba is a contemporary restaurant in Milan at via Varesina 177, in the Certosa district, and it holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide. Chef Fabio Abbattista opened it in 2024 as his own project after years cooking in Italy and abroad.
Abbattista is from Puglia and previously cooked at L'Albereta. At Abba he builds the menu around the day's best raw ingredients, adding techniques and flavours from many traditions. The cooking is personal and precise, and the ingredient stays at the centre of each plate.
Recent menus have included lacquered parsnip with tonka bean, carrots from Polignano with aniseed and hazelnut, and risotto with cardoon, pear and smoked polenta. Desserts have featured a chocolate soufflé with burnt orange ice cream. Tasting menus run in several lengths, and a vegetarian menu is available.
Abba occupies a former paintbrush factory from the early 1900s. Large windows let in daylight, and the walls and furnishings use sand, earth and wood tones. The room holds eight tables facing an open kitchen. In the evening the light softens and the space feels quieter and more intimate.
