The story
FELIX Kitchen & Bar, at Ybl Miklós tér 9 in Budapest, serves Mediterranean dishes in a restored neo-Renaissance kiosk on the Danube. Gault&Millau awarded it 14.5 points for 2026, and Michelin lists it as Recommended the same year.
Executive chef Dániel Katona trained in France, then spent six years in Spain, three of them alongside Jordi Cruz. His cooking mixes Hungarian and international influences, with steaks and other dishes finished over a Josper grill. The veal schnitzel is the one to order: two crisp panko-crusted slices, juicy inside, in a generous portion.
The building is the former Várkert Kiosk, designed by Miklós Ybl. Interiors recall grand turn-of-the-century hotels, with custom blue-rimmed china and Solingen-made cutlery. The terrace faces the Danube and Buda Castle, a fine spot for coffee or a cocktail.
