The story
Gasthaus zum Kreuz in Titisee-Neustadt serves Badische country cooking at Hohlengraben 1 in St. Märgen, and the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2026 recognizes its good quality, good value kitchen.
The Schwer family runs this house in its third generation, and the kitchen pairs authentic Badische dishes with modern, creative plates. The menu changes with the seasons. Guests can also order the five-course Genussmenu, which comes with wine pairing.
The Schlemmer Atlas awards the restaurant 2,5 Kochlöffel and names pike-perch (Zander), venison (Reh) and monkfish (Seeteufel) among its main dishes. Those three fish and game options show how the kitchen works between the forest and the lake. Breakfast leans toward regional produce, served as a generous buffet.
Fifteen individually designed rooms sit in the main house and the Marie Antoinette guesthouse. The WaldRaum Spa offers a sauna with a panoramic window, an organic sauna, an infrared sauna and a quiet room. The house sits in the high Black Forest, so hiking and winter sports start at the front door.
