The story
Café-Restaurant Regina Maris at Badestr. 7 c in Norden is a hotel restaurant right on the dike, serving hearty home cooking with a North Sea accent. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1,5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
Küchenchef Mario Müller and his team cook fresh each day and follow what the coast offers. The kitchen calls its approach "Handmade Happiness". Lunch brings soup or salad, a main course and a small dessert. Spring means asparagus and the first Maischollen. Later comes the season's first Grünkohl, served the East Frisian way with Bratkartoffeln, Grieben, Speck and Pinkel.
Afternoons slow down here, and East Frisia has a word for it: Teetied. Ostfriesentee arrives with Kluntje, next to a slice from the cake counter. You can drink it on the terrace facing the dike or in the glass-enclosed Wintergarten. Coffee is available for anyone who skips the tea.
The dinner menu moves between North Sea dishes and Mediterranean plates, a light fusion streak within the home cooking. Seasonal special menus change with the market, and vegetarian dishes appear at lunch and dinner. From mid-May to the end of September, Friday evenings are grill nights, best on a dry day outside.
