The story
Deckenbrocks Kleiner Kiepenkerl at Spiekerhof 47-48 in Münster serves Westphalian home cooking in the city center, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1.5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
Chef Ibrahim Sow keeps supply lines short, and many products come from farmers and producers around Münster. The card changes weekly, and the daily specials follow what the market offers. The Schlemmer Atlas describes the cooking as hearty and home-style, with coffee and cake also on offer.
The building is roughly 300 years old and was destroyed in the Second World War. It reopened in 1955 as the Bierstuben Wielers beside the Kiepenkerl statue and took its present name in 1988. Sabine Deckenbrock and Moritz Ludorf now run it as the third and fourth generation of the family.
