The story
KOI is a Japanese restaurant in Munich at Wittelsbacherplatz 1, 80333, where the modern Japanese kitchen earned a Michelin Guide Recommended distinction in 2026.
The menu draws on izakaya traditions, with sushi and dishes cooked over charcoal on the robata grill. The Schlemmer Atlas, which awards 1.5 Kochlöffel for 2026, describes the sushi bar as also serving steak specialties and seafood. Diners who want something heartier can order wagyu roastbeef or jumbo wild prawns alongside their dinner.
KOI occupies two floors of the Arco Palais, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing Brienner Straße. Dark woods and deep green tones line the interior, and the palette stays restrained. The open kitchen and robata grill sit at the centre of the room, and soft, indirect light gives the space a calm, urban evening mood.
