The story
Das Tschecherl serves Austrian cooking at Amalienstraße 89 in Munich, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026. The restaurant sits in the Amalienpassage, where the Rosario once drew students, artists and musicians for years.
The menu keeps the Austrian classics that regulars expect, including Grammelknödel and Wachauer Marillenpalatschinken. Alongside them, seasonal dishes take a more modern approach. The Schlemmer Atlas gives the house 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026 and names breaded fried chicken, veal goulash and cheese dumplings as the standard it meets.
The owners describe the space as cosy and unpretentious, in keeping with the bar's earlier character. Air conditioning keeps the room comfortable in warmer months, and a set lunch menu makes the midday visit easy to plan.
