The story
Bio-Restaurant Klinglwirt serves Bavarian cuisine at Balanstr. 16 in Munich's Haidhausen district, and the Schlemmer Atlas 2026 awarded it 1 Kochlöffel. The rustic pub builds its menu on organic ingredients, with plant-based plates sitting alongside classic Bavarian dishes.
Most of the menu uses organic produce, and the kitchen makes nearly everything itself. Beef and sausages come from Herrmannsdorfer, and the pork is mainly supplied by Pichler, both organic and Bavarian. Around half the dishes are vegetarian or plant-based, and the suppliers are based in Munich or its immediate surroundings.
The organic pork roast is made fresh every day. Cheese noodles, made with spelt flour and organic Alpine cheese, are also on the menu daily. The Kaiserschmarrn, a sweet pancake made with organic free-range eggs, is served only on Sundays. The seasonal rhubarb mousse with yoghurt has drawn praise from guests.
The tavern is about three minutes on foot from the Rosenheimer Platz S-Bahn station. The Schlemmer Atlas describes a pub with an organic ethos, where schnitzel, sausages, gröstl and a vegan apple strudel are served. Beers are poured from the taps in a range the guide calls flavorful. An extended outdoor seating area gives guests more room to linger.
