The story
Acquarello, at Mühlbaurstraße 36 in Munich, is a fine dining Italian kitchen that also draws on Mediterranean cooking. Gambero Rosso awarded it 3 forks in 2025. The restaurant is in Bogenhausen and is run by chef Mario Gamba.
Gamba opened Acquarello in 1994 after training in kitchens including Tantris under Heinz Winkler. The restaurant's own text says the goal is dishes that meet the highest expectations, served in a room meant to touch the guest. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 3.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and describes seven-course menus.
A chef's table seats up to eight guests. Gamba also teaches cooking classes. The tags list set lunch, catering, private parties and takeaway, so the kitchen serves more than dinner.
