The story
Marly Privé in Mannheim cooks a French kitchen at Lameystraße 17, 68165, and holds 3 Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas 2026. The room is small, with twelve seats that can be booked individually.
Chef Gregor Ruppenthal trained at Deidesheimer Hof, then worked at Lucas Carton in Paris, Al Portone in Lugano and La Grenouillière near Montreuil. He now calls Mannheim home and also runs the bistro Comptoir 17 and the bar Côté Comptoir on the same street. His guiding line on the website is "La bonne cuisine est la base du véritable bonheur."
The seven-course menu costs 150 euros and the five-course menu 110 euros, which drops the spaghetti and cheese. Friday lunch offers five or four courses for 89 or 75 euros. Dishes on the current menu include crudo of Breton scallops with black Périgord truffle, octopus salad, spaghetti alla chitarra with sea urchin, lemon and parsley, turbot from Quiberon with wild broccoli, and grilled Ibaiama pork with gyoza ravioli. A fish-only menu is available on pre-order. There is no vegetarian or vegan menu, and allergies should be stated when booking.
The fine-dining space sits within the restaurant Le Comptoir, and Michelin lists it as Recommended for 2026. The site moved from the larger Marly to this compact format, so the evening feels closer to a private dinner than a full dining room.
