The story
VILLINO, at Mittenbuch 6 in Lindau, is a hotel restaurant whose Italian kitchen earned a Michelin star in 2026. The cooking combines Italian cucina with Asian flavours, and many of the ingredients come from the Lake Constance region.
Toni Neumann leads the kitchen as chef de cuisine, after working his way up from sous chef. His menus draw on the Asian and Italian traditions together, so a plate can carry a Mediterranean base and a spice or sauce from further east. The emphasis stays on regional produce from the lake.
The restaurant offers three tasting menus, named Cucina della Passione, Tradizionale and Cucina Naturale. Der Feinschmecker rated the restaurant 3 in 2026 and highlighted sea bass with butternut squash and apple balsamic vinegar, and pork belly with paneer and Massaman curry. The Tradizionale menu includes mountain cheese ravioli with truffle and Lake Constance beef with parsley root and jus noisette. Its complete menu costs 170 euros per person.
The dining room follows the style of a classic Italian country house. It is bright, filled with natural light and dressed with white curtains, and guests eat from fine porcelain. Tables look out onto the garden, which is one of the hotel's defining features.
The wine list holds around 1,000 bottles, with a focus on Germany, France and Italy. Sommelier Rainer Hörmann, who joined the family business in 2001, guides guests toward pairings. Bottles are kept in a historic wine cellar.
