The story
Landgasthof Köchlin serves Bavarian, German and Swabian cooking at Kemptener Str. 41 in Lindau am Bodensee. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the long-established inn 1,5 Kochlöffel in 2026, recognising its hearty regional kitchen and rustic dining rooms.
The kitchen cooks with produce from the region and makes much of it on site, including noodles, spätzle, pestos, chutneys and sauces. The Allgäuer Käsespätzle combines house-made spätzle with mountain cheese, Räßkäse, Emmentaler and caramelised onions. Zupfte Sau is pork shoulder braised overnight and pulled apart in a dark beer sauce, served with Köchlin fries and a creamy kraut salad.
The menu leans on Swabian and Bavarian classics, with a few lighter choices. The Reutiner Salat Bowl layers greens, buckwheat, chickpeas, walnuts and apple with a yogurt dressing, and can be topped with grilled goat cheese or spiced tofu. Wildschwein Fleischküchle, a wild boar patty, comes with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes. Vegan and vegetarian guests have a small but considered selection. At midday, the tapas menu offers seven dishes of your choice.
The building carries centuries of history in its walls, and the Gaststuben and guest rooms reflect that age. In summer, the beer garden extends the dining room outdoors. Guests often come for a long lunch or a relaxed evening, with the old wood panelling setting the tone.
