The story
Weinstube Brand sits at Weinstraße 19 in Frankweiler, near Landau in der Pfalz, where a country cooking kitchen with Mediterranean influences earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking in 2026. It is a rustic Weinstube with seasonal menus and wines from the Palatinate region.
Christian Knefler leads the kitchen with Eva Maria Knefler. Their earlier training includes Hotel Bareiss in Baiersbronn, Restaurant Giardino in Ascona, Jöhri's Talvo in St. Moritz and Vendôme at Schloss Bensberg. Fresh herbs, fine sauces and reductions, and seasonal produce set the tone of the plates.
The rumpsteak, served in several variations, remains a regular favorite. Homemade ravioli, a range of salads and a warm chocolate cake also appear on the menu, and a daily board follows the market and the season. The Schlemmer Atlas, which awarded 2,5 Kochlöffel for 2026, names veal fillet and trout among the dishes.
The dining room has natural stone walls and ceiling beams. The Weinstube seats up to 30 people, and in fine weather guests sit in the courtyard. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor area.
