The story
Seehalde, at Birnau-Maurach 1 in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen (88690), is a Mediterranean and Swabian restaurant in Konstanz, Germany. Der Feinschmecker awarded it 3 in 2026, and the kitchen works with fish from the lake and seasonal ingredients from the region.
Markus Gruler leads the kitchen, and his brother Thomas runs the dining room and cellar. The family has hosted guests here since 1917, and this is the fourth generation of Grulers in the house. Markus prefers local producers and reinterprets regional dishes with a personal approach.
Small plates of Lake Constance fish sit alongside a bouillabaisse made with local cheese and rouille. A lukewarm roll of calf's head and octopus comes with pumpkin seed oil, runner beans and pumpkin pearls. Oysters and onion steak also appear on the menu, and the mains offer onion roast beef or Barbary duck. Guests can order à la carte or choose a three- or four-course menu.
The dining room has spacious tables and a walnut-paneled wall. A wide window front looks straight across the water. In summer, a shaded terrace sits directly by the lake, where you can hear the waves against the quay wall while you eat.
