The story
Villa Rothschild Grill & Health sits at Im Rothschildpark 1 in Königstein im Taunus, where the kitchen pairs classic French cooking with seasonal produce and a health-focused streak. The restaurant holds a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, and its French-leaning menu draws on the grounds of a former Rothschild family residence.
Patrick Bittner has led the kitchen as culinary director since February 2024. The French base is modern and relaxed, with a strong focus on vegetables. Vegetable stocks are reduced intensely, and sauces are built without leaning on heavy butter.
The menu has included a wild herb garden salad with escabeche-style vegetables and honey vinaigrette, and a duck liver pâté served with green tomatoes and spiced brioche. Oysters from Gillardeau and Utah Beach appear on the list. A Dombes quail, baked praline-style, comes with wine-glazed chicory and couscous. Tomahawk steaks are cooked on a lava grill.
Tables are arranged around a large fireplace, and French doors open onto the terrace and the hotel's 10 hectares of parkland. The interior uses oiled oak floors, walnut wall panelling and fireplaces made from fossil-rich Jura marble. Schlemmer Atlas listed the restaurant with three Kochlöffel for 2026. Tizians Bar occupies the former Rothschild library.
