The story
Schwarz Gourmet, at Weinstraße Süd 1 in Kirchheim an der Weinstraße, holds one Michelin star (2026) for its French cooking. Manfred Schwarz leads the kitchen.
Der Feinschmecker describes the food as French-inspired gourmet cuisine, interpreted with a contemporary hand. Menus run to four or six courses. Périgord foie gras comes with veal sweetbread, and Breton scallop is paired with octopus in teriyaki sauce. The prime beef from meadow cattle arrives with smoked eel, trout caviar and a saffron-chive beurre blanc.
The wine list digs deep into the Pfalz. The dining room is simple and stylish, and the mood is family-run and relaxed. Schlemmer Atlas gave it 3.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and notes that Schwarz once cooked Saumagen for Helmut Kohl. There is outdoor seating too.
