The story
Zum Goldenen Anker at Hauptstraße 16 in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, just north of Karlsruhe, is a Badische country inn listed as Recommended in the 2026 Michelin Guide. The Landgasthof is also a hotel, and the restaurant sits next door.
The Radtke family runs the house, which has passed from generation to generation since 1726. The kitchen cooks regional and seasonal country dishes. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and describes a traditional inn with a modern interior and a courtyard.
The à la carte list leans on classic Badische cooking. There is zander fillet pan-fried on the skin with beurre blanc, and saddle of lamb in a herb crust with ratatouille. The braised beef roulade follows the recipe of "Oma Emele" and comes with apple red cabbage and a potato dumpling. Venison goulash arrives with Spätzle. The four-course Anker-Menü costs €76, or €59 in its vegetarian version.
A separate vegan menu starts with kimchi and gyoza with sesame mayo, then red lentil cream soup with profiteroles. Risoni with beech mushrooms and pine nuts follows, and blood orange sorbet closes the meal. Drinks include HEIMAT gin tonics, with alcohol-free versions, and Palatinate wines are poured with the food.
