The story
Ristorante I Fratelli at Rheinbrückstr. 8 in Rheinfelden (Baden) is an Italian restaurant in the Haus Salmegg, beside the old Rhine bridge to Switzerland. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2 Kochlöffel in 2026.
The menu centres on handmade pasta, fine antipasti and fish and meat specialities. The kitchen works with the seasons, so game, asparagus, truffle and chanterelles appear when they are in season. On weekdays, two set lunch menus are offered: pasta with salad and dessert, or a meat or fish main with sides, salad and dessert.
Guests can sit on the terrace directly on the Rhine or in one of two historic vaulted cellars. The cellars also hold the wine collection, which draws on Italy's leading growing regions, including the Fontanin estate in Castiglione Falletto. The wine cellar is fully air-conditioned, and dogs are welcome on the terrace and in the front room.
