The story
Heinzler am See, at Strandbadstraße 3 in Immenstaad am Bodensee, is a Swabian kitchen on the north shore of Lake Constance. The restaurant received a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026.
The menu follows the surroundings. Felchen, Egli and Seeforellen from the lake appear as regularly as venison, roe deer, rabbit and wild boar from the woods nearby. Salads, vegetables and fruit come from farms close by. Michael and Thomas Heinzler, now in the third generation, divide the work between them: one runs the service, the other the kitchen.
Schwäbischer Zwiebelbraten, braised Kalbsbäckle and Tafelspitzsülze anchor the regional side of the card. Flädlesuppe and Allgäuer Käsespätzle offer a lighter route, and a Bärlauch ravioli with Roquefort appears among the vegetarian dishes. Group menus for eight or more guests run through the autumn and winter and close with desserts such as Kaiserschmarrn with Zwetschgenröster.
The house has several rooms. The Jagdstube is the rustic one, while the Panorama-Restaurant is bright, spacious and more formal. In warmer months the lakeside terrace is the main draw. The Schlemmer Atlas, which awarded 2,5 Kochlöffel for 2026, also highlights the private dock and beach. Boats from Switzerland often tie up at the jetty for lunch.
