The story
Henrich HÖER's Speisezimmer is the restaurant of the HÖERHOF hotel at Obergasse 26 in Idstein, Germany, where the kitchen serves classic cuisine with a seasonal focus. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026, and the Schlemmer Atlas awards it three Kochlöffel for the same year.
The restaurant offers three menus. The Schlemmerkarte is plain, honest cooking meant to be simply good. Kulinarische Jahreszeiten is a seasonal menu built with more refinement, and Genusswelten is the fine dining option, which the kitchen describes as creative and surprising. Service runs Tuesday through Saturday, with lunch from 12:00 and dinner in the evening.
Recent menus have included cured Taunus trout with beetroot and grey bread, scallop with cucumber and buttermilk, and salt-marsh lamb served two ways with potato, paprika and lemon. Pork loin comes with asparagus and celery. Desserts have included pear with juniper and chocolate, and strawberry with sorrel and almonds.
The restaurant occupies a building that dates to around 1620, with its timber-framed facade and restored rooms. The Schlemmer Atlas describes a five-course meal taken in one of the nooks of the complex, which looks over the car-free old town of Idstein.
