The story
Eulenstein in Idstein cooks seasonal French food at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 9, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. The room is relaxed and modern, and the menu changes with the market.
The restaurant opened with the idea of a light, modern regional kitchen with international influences. The menu changes twice a month to follow the season and what the market offers. The chef's career, listed on the website, includes kitchens on Mallorca and in the Rheingau, as well as a catering business that cooked for touring musicians.
The set menus show the range. The 65 euro menu opens with smoked trout soup with horseradish, then braised beef cheek on potato and leek purée with Serrano ham, and ends with a flan served with raspberries and pistachio ice cream. The 79 euro menu includes raw marinated tuna with avocado and tomato in a cumin broth, and skrei cod on beetroot risotto with parmesan foam. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the restaurant 2 Kochlöffel in 2026 and describes a four-course menu.
The wine list leans toward regional and German bottles, with Austrian, French, Italian and some overseas wines alongside them. Several wines are available by the glass, and the aperitif list includes Champagne and a Kir Royal. The young service team aims to make guests feel at home, and the site lists outdoor seating.
