The story
Whiskyplaza, at Deichstraße 43 in Hamburg, is a whisky bar with a contemporary German kitchen. It earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it two Kochlöffel the same year.
The menu leans on regional and seasonal produce, chosen for sustainability and animal welfare as much as flavor. The butcher visits each farm personally before buying its meat. Poultry comes from a farm east of the Lüneburg Heide, where flocks stay small and the birds are hand-fed organic feed. Game is served only during the hunting season and comes from wild animals in the Elbe valley.
More than 1,100 whiskies fill the shelves of a house built in 1697. Each tasting pour arrives with water and a square of sea salt chocolate. The tasting room upstairs, decorated in an old British style, sits directly above the bar and hosts private dinners. Head chef Sebastian Stobinski plans each menu with the guest, or cooks to a set budget if you prefer to be surprised.
