The story
Stüffel at Isekai 1 in Hamburg cooks German food with Mediterranean and world cuisine touches, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. The restaurant opened in 2014 in Bergstedt and now sits in Eppendorf, beside the Isebekkanal.
Chef de cuisine Hanno has led the stoves since 2019. He trained at the Weissenhaus Grand Village Resort on the Baltic and worked at Die Bank in Hamburg. The house says it opens no bags and cares where its products come from, and it likes to reinterpret dishes now and then.
The menu runs from starters like baked prawn with mango, papaya and curry to a ravioli of mountain cheese and potato with crème fraîche, caviar and beurre blanc. Braised veal shoulder comes with a bread dumpling and wild garlic. The house classics are plainer: Husum beef tartare with miso and radish, or Wiener schnitzel with fried potatoes.
Host and sommelier Ondrej Kovar tastes every bottle on the list. He was previously chief sommelier at Berlin's Hotel Adlon. Open wines are poured by the 0.1 l glass, starting at 7 euros, and the list reaches deep into German Riesling and Champagne. Downstairs, a wine bar seats up to 35 guests for private events. The Schlemmer Atlas gave Stüffel 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026 and describes casual dining rooms and a terrace by the water.
