The story
Karlsons Grindel, at Rutschbahn 15A in Hamburg, is a Scandinavian kitchen serving breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake from an open kitchen in the Grindelviertel. The Schlemmer Atlas 2026 awarded it 2,5 Kochlöffel.
The Mittagstisch rotates every week. A sample menu from December 2024 included Köttbullar, the Swedish-style meatballs, served on weekdays. Baked potatoes came with salad and herb cream, or topped with Graved Lachs or North Sea shrimp. A vegan version with olive oil cream and sun-dried tomatoes is also offered, along with a Danish hot dog in single or double portions.
Cakes are baked in house and served with coffee through the day. The Skandinavien Shop sells Scandinavian goods, and the team hosts events at the Grindel site.
