The story
Grill Royal Hamburg, at Ballindamm 17 in Hamburg, is a steakhouse with a serious seafood side. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
The meat list names its sources. There is Black Angus from Greater Omaha and dry-aged rib eye from John Stone in Ireland. Fillet from Schwarzbuntes Fleckvieh comes from Germany. Cuts range from a 200 g fillet to a 900 g American Porterhouse, and A5 Wagyu from Hokkaido is priced per 100 g. Sides such as Kartoffelmousseline with onions are ordered separately.
North Sea oysters arrive with shallot vinaigrette. Ossetra Imperial caviar from Germany is served with crème fraîche and small salted potatoes. Hamachi sashimi and grilled octopus with garlic salsa sit alongside grilled Loup de Mer from France. For groups of two or more, the Chef's Choice Menu is a family-style, three-course surprise at 99 per person.
Art and Murano glass dress the dining room. Guests can see into the open kitchen, where aging cabinets and a selection of wines are on view. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026. Desserts include Mousse au Chocolat made with Guanaja chocolate, Crème Brûlée and Erdbeer Royal with mascarpone espuma.
