The story
Bootshaus Bar & Grill sits at Am Kaiserkai 19 in Hamburg's HafenCity, a steakhouse with views across the Elbe that earned a Michelin Recommended mention for 2026. The menu is built around the grill, with a bar on the other side of the room for drinks before or after dinner.
The grill handles the main attractions. The printed menu lists a 300 g New York Strip, a 400 g Rib Eye, a 200 g Ladies Cut filet and a 300 g Gentlemans Cut filet. Duroc pork chop and a 350 g veal chop also come off the grill.
Sauces are served on the side: Béarnaise, pepper sauce, red wine jus, truffle jus and a smoked paprika butter. The Schlemmer Atlas awards the restaurant two Kochlöffel for 2026 and describes the steaks as the core of the kitchen, alongside dishes such as Bœuf Bourguignon.
Starters range from beef tatar with crispy onions to salmon sashimi finished with brown butter and soy. Burrata comes with tomato, olives, capers and focaccia, and grilled octopus arrives with coriander hummus and paprika ketchup.
For fish, cod is baked in foil with a miso and soy marinade, and king prawns are seasoned with garlic, rosemary and thyme. Steakhouse fries with chili mayo and creamy polenta with parmesan are the sides most worth ordering alongside the meat.
The interior is spare, with materials left close to their natural state. The bar pours a Bootshaus Spritz, a pineapple mojito with grilled pineapple, and a Nightcrawler built on bourbon, hazelnut and dark chocolate. Non-alcoholic options include a No-Groni and a fruit punch.
