The story
Atable im Amtshaus is a French and international restaurant at Hauptstraße 29 in Freinsheim, listed as Recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2026. Swen and Sybille Bultmann run it inside a small hotel in the old town.
Swen Bultmann trained in classical French kitchens, and his menu of three to six courses follows that line. A vegetarian version is available, as is a three-course lunch menu. Der Feinschmecker gave the kitchen a 3 in 2026 and praised the homemade quail and duck foie gras terrines. The Burgundy snails in cress butter and the seared scallop with seafood raviolo and crustacean foam also drew mention.
Tables stand under the sandstone vault of the former stables. In fine weather, guests can sit in the courtyard instead. The house is baroque and once belonged to the Electoral Palatinate clerk. Today it holds 20 guest rooms. The Bultmanns ran their first Atable in Ludwigshafen for about eight years before moving to Freinsheim in May 2021.
Sybille Bultmann, a trained sommelière, compiles a list built mainly on German and French bottles. It covers the Pfalz widely, from young growers to established names. Two cellars let the best vintages rest until they are ready to be poured. The German Wine Institute named the couple among its best wine restaurateurs in 2020.
