The story
Michaels Leitenberg, at Weiherweg 3 in Frasdorf, serves modern cuisine and holds one Michelin Star for 2026. Chef Michael Schlaipfer turned his parents' and grandparents' traditional country inn into an upscale restaurant on the edge of the Chiemgau.
The menu runs five to eight courses, trimmed to three or four at Sunday lunch. The kitchen is French at its core, with Japanese ingredients and flavors worked in. Spiny dogfish arrives with verjus and pumpkin seed oil, while lobster is paired with apple, leek and cress.
The room is white and aquamarine, with reflective spherical pendant lights over classically set tables. The list holds around 150 wines, alongside non-alcoholic alternatives.
