The story
WELA - Thai Dining Experience sits at Oststr. 158 in Düsseldorf, where the Thai kitchen works in a fine dining register. Der Feinschmecker awarded it 3 for 2026, and the menu runs in five or eight courses.
Wirun and Nicha Lawang present the flavors of their home country in a contemporary, refined form. Handmade pastes, fresh herbs, chilies, lime and palm sugar form the base of each dish. Tom Kha with king prawn (Kaisergranat) and ike-jime sea bass seared on the skin with mango and tamarind are among the classics on the menu.
The dining room is wood-paneled, with warm light and a small number of tables, about twelve. German Rieslings, French classics and natural wines are chosen to accompany the Thai flavors without overpowering them.
