The story
Weingärtnerhaus in Donauwörth is a German restaurant at Schlossstraße 1, Kaisheim, 86687, inside Schloss Leitheim, and the 2026 Schlemmer Atlas awarded it three Kochlöffel. The kitchen blends German cooking with Mediterranean touches and draws on produce from the surrounding region.
Paul Zinsmeister leads the kitchen, and he grew up near Leitheim. He trained at Restaurant Schwarzwälder in Augsburg, then cooked at Dehner Blumenhotel, Kloster Holzen and Ecke Stuben, which Gault Millau rated 14 points. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
The Schlemmer Atlas describes baked prawn tartare with avocado and pink-roasted duck breast with cherry sauce, served with sugar snap peas and potato cakes. The menu changes monthly with the seasons, so the card you see may differ from these examples.
Guests can dine by the open fire, beside the tiled stove, or in the Prälatenstube, a formal room that suits private groups. Colette Zinsmeister selects wines from around the world, with a specialty in fine South African estates, and wine pairing is available with the meal.
