The story
Porte Neuf is a fusion kitchen at Woldemarstraße 9 in Detmold, where chef Daniel Fischer's cooking earned a 2.5 rating from Der Feinschmecker in 2026. The restaurant is small and personally run, drawing on French, Japanese and Korean influences for its modern menus.
Executive Chef Daniel Fischer works with delicate plating and careful craftsmanship. On the restaurant's website he describes purism, pathos, craft and esprit as the foundation of his cooking. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026. Guests choose a four or six course menu, or the nine course P9 Signature Menu, which is available only with advance reservation.
Scallops come with jjajang, a black bean paste, beurre blanc and beluga lentils. The Iberico dish is served with umeboshi and kimchi, a clear nod to Asian flavors. The Abstract Elements menu opens with wild prawn, crustacean stock and steamed egg.
The dining room occupies a former corner establishment. Golden accents and warm lighting set the tone, and a bar sits within the dining area. The wine list offers seventy bottles, with eighteen available by the glass. Guests can also order a non-alcoholic accompaniment alongside the Nexus menu.
