The story
Gasthaus Weißenbeck is a Bavarian inn at Ludwig-Thoma-Straße 56 in Bergkirchen, close to Dachau, and it holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026. The village setting sits between the maypole and the church.
The farm has belonged to the same family for 400 years, and the inn has run for more than 60. Cooking and hosting have passed from Oma Anni to her daughter Barbara and then to Elisabeth. The Schlemmer Atlas gives the house 2.5 Kochlöffel (2026) and mentions the fireplace lounge, the game specialties and a Schmankerl feast menu.
Everything is made in-house, including the bread, which is baked fresh each day. Game comes from the family's own hunt around Unterbachern, and the garden supplies herbs. The menu changes daily. Recent dishes include lukewarm octopus salad on potato-herb mash and Föhr mussels in a vegetable and white wine broth. Half a free-range duck comes with hand-grated potato dumpling and red cabbage, and there is Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad and cranberries.
For parties of two or more, the Reinschmecker menu is seasonal and priced at 68 euros. A sample run starts with the octopus salad and the mussels. Pink-roasted heifer loin follows with parsley root purée, wild broccoli and beech mushrooms. Dessert is chocolate tart with lemongrass panna cotta and pineapple-ginger sorbet. Guests can also sit in the garden.
