The story
Bergfriedel in Bühl serves Badische and country cooking at Haabergstraße 23, Bühlertal, and earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. The family-run wine and climate hotel sits above the Bühlertal valley, with a menu that moves between regional specialties and fine-dining courses.
Andreas Schäuble leads the kitchen, and he runs the house with his wife Marianne. The Badische dishes sit alongside lobster and turbot on the same card, and the kitchen treats both as equals. Meat comes from the village butcher, game from hunts around Bühlertal, and fish from a local fish farm.
The menu runs from Badische specialties to vegetarian dishes, and a multi-course menu can be paired with wines. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the house 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026, citing its numerous menu options, including vegetarian and vegan dishes. The wine list is a strength of its own, with a cellar called the Andreaskeller for serious wine lovers and anyone else who wants to browse.
The covered, wind-sheltered sun terrace looks out over the valley, the nearby vineyards and the Black Forest. In the modern Schwarzwaldstube, a glass front can be slid aside so the room feels partly outdoors in good weather. The Glottertäler-Stüble is rustic and traditional, the Vier-Jahreszeitenstube changes its seasonal decoration, and the Landhausstube sits apart in the Vinothek.
