The story
Tomatissimo is an Italian and Mediterranean kitchen at Am Tie 15, 33619 Bielefeld, in the village of Kirchdornberg on the edge of the city. It holds a Michelin Recommended (2026) listing, and Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2,5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
Bernhard Grubmüller, born in Munich, runs the kitchen and builds most dishes around seasonal produce, much of it from the surrounding region. Vegetables take the front of the plate, and fish or meat sit inside a balanced composition. The spring sharing menu for March and April 2026 lists ricotta and lemon ravioli with wild garlic spinach, roasted monkfish with tomato and onion purée, and a coffee panna cotta with pineapple bread.
The grill is charcoal, and the restaurant ages its beef in a cabinet guests can see into. Schlemmer Atlas singles out the mixed grill platters with dry-aged beef. The sharing dinner suits groups better, with small dishes placed in the middle of the table to pass around.
A fireside room seats up to 35, and the terrace holds 60. Grubmüller serves at the chef's table himself, and Osman Kamci leads the service team in an easy, unstiff style. The restaurant also offers private dining, cooking classes, and a vegetarian menu.
