The story
Richard is a French and Mediterranean bistro at Köpenicker Straße 174 in Berlin Kreuzberg, listed as Michelin Recommended for 2026. Owner Hans Richard ran it for 13 years and announced its permanent closing on 15 December 2025.
The Schlemmer Atlas awarded 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and described the dining room near the Spree: glass lamps, large-format paintings, stucco ceilings and finely laid tables. The guide pointed to the French dishes as the main draw, coq au vin and saddle of lamb among them.
The menu read as modern bistro cooking with a French spine. Fines de Claire oysters came with white kimchi and dill oil, and tuna crudité with saffron and tomato. Mains included a turbot cutlet à la meunière with capers and Barbarie duck breast "quatre épices" with roasted Brussels sprouts and dried pear. Vegetarians had glazed agnolotti filled with Taleggio and spinach, finished with fried onion.
Sweet courses ran to a goat's cheese crème brûlée with poached pear and almond ice cream, and a pavlova with crème Chantilly and plums. To go with them, the list offered a 2007 Kanzemer Altenberg Auslese from Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier, poured by the 5 cl glass.
