The story
Macionga is a restaurant and wine bar at Xantener Straße 9 in Berlin, where the modern German kitchen cooks mostly regional ingredients and holds a Michelin Recommended listing for 2026.
Christopher Wecker leads the kitchen, which reworks German and French classics with regional ingredients. The house calls its approach "Urkraftküche," a cooking style built around the character of each ingredient. Most portions are tapas-sized and meant for sharing, so ordering several plates is the common approach.
The beef tartare comes Spreewald style, with dill, cucumber and beef consommé, and caviar is available as an option. Flambéed mackerel arrives with lemon juice, Brussels sprouts and spring onions. The chicken fricassee is finished with Périgord truffle, black walnut and Madeira jus. Dessert might be the Boskoop apple, served with caramel, Sichuan pepper and lavender ice cream.
André Macionga, a sommelier who once worked at Tim Raue, selects the wine list, which holds more than 750 references. Wine pairings are poured by the glass, and a non-alcoholic pairing is offered as well. Der Feinschmecker awarded the restaurant a 3 in 2026. The dining room seats 58 in the evening, and the bar adds 28 places where guests can drop in for a glass without a reservation.
