The story
Le Jardin de France im Stahlbad serves classic French cuisine at Augustaplatz 2 in Baden-Baden, and it holds one Michelin star for 2026. The restaurant occupies a 19th-century building in the spa town centre, with a French kitchen that has become a fixture for regulars and visitors alike.
Stéphan Bernhard leads the kitchen, and Sophie Bernhard shares the running of the house. The Feinschmecker guide describes traditional haute cuisine kept at a consistently high level. Lunch and dinner both offer three- and five-course menus, along with an à la carte selection.
House-made foie gras comes with chutney and brioche. Grilled lobster tail arrives with lobster ravioli, spinach and a sauce made from roasted carcasses finished with mulled wine. Duck from the Dombes is served with soft polenta and seasonal fruit, while venison fillet carries a pepper crust alongside parsley root purée, quince and mushrooms.
The patio sits at ground level among greenery, sheltered by a large roof structure. The higher rooms feel more intimate. The wine list holds around 250 selections from Baden and leading French regions, and the Alsatian roots of the kitchen show up in the bottles as well.
