The story
Haus am Markt, at Marktplatz 1 in Bad Saulgau, is a Mediterranean and Swabian restaurant that the Schlemmer Atlas 2026 rated with 1.5 Kochlöffel. The house is a protected half-timbered building on the old town square.
The Schlemmer Atlas singles out homemade Maultaschen, sausage salad and roast beef as the Swabian dishes to order. The kitchen cooks with regional and seasonal produce, and it also rotates creative dishes with international influences. Ask what is new before choosing from the classics.
The building's history reaches back to the 14th century, and in the 18th century it operated as the "Taverne zum Schwanen." Guests can sit on the terrace above the market square in summer or settle into the restored timber-framed rooms in winter. A historic hall hosts celebrations and conferences for 30 to 120 people.
