The story
WEINrestaurant Ayler Kupp sits at Trierer Straße 49a in Ayl, a winegrowing village in a side valley of the Saar. Its listing calls the cuisine Mediterranean, but the cooking draws on regional produce. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2,5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
Jörg Diekert cooks regional food in a refined, contemporary reading. The two seasonal menus are open to everyone, not only guests of the attached WEINhotel. The Michelin Guide also lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026. Parties of seven or more are asked to settle on one menu sequence in advance.
The winter menu leans on salsify, citrus, walnut and truffle. At lunch, smaller plates include handmade ravioli with mushrooms and chive cream, truffle fries with walnut mayonnaise, and goulash of Saarburg game with house-made spätzle. A cheese fondue is also offered, made with cheese from the Altfuchshof in the Saargau and served with Saarburg bacon and Mannebach cherry brandy.
Riesling is the point of the wine list, with bottles from Weingut Peter Lauer and other Saar growers poured alongside the food. The dining room is modern, and the window view falls on the Ayler Kupp vineyard. In spring and summer the garden terrace opens for meals outdoors.
