The story
Lao Siam, at 49 rue de Belleville in Paris, has run a Thai kitchen since 1985 and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026.
Dishes here carry codes, and Le Fooding, which listed the restaurant in 2026, points to a few. Crispy rice squares come in a coconut, shrimp and pork sauce (T18A), and Laotian sausages are loaded with lemongrass (T21). The papaya and pickled crab salad (T17C) is intense. Pan-fried prawns arrive with vermicelli in a ginger, garlic and chili broth (T33).
The lighting is low, like a Siam temple, and diners sit shoulder-to-shoulder and eat with chopsticks. Sweets include flambéed banana beignets and fresh mango carved to look like a porcupine.
