The story
Alpage sits at 734 route de l'Altiport in Courchevel, France, as the modern cuisine restaurant of Hôtel Annapurna, and it holds one Michelin star (2026). Dinner is served in the evening, Wednesday to Sunday.
Jean-Rémi Caillon, from Roanne, trained in classical French cooking and cooks around the seasons. His five- or seven-course menus change with the produce, moving from fresh herbs and picked flowers to Courchevel pepper, alpine lake fish, mushrooms, game and truffle. He works directly with the growers, fishermen and artisans who supply the kitchen, and he describes his role as telling their stories through each plate.
Dinner happens after dark, in a room that looks out onto the trees. Mont-Blanc granite, Albertville oak and ceramics by Anne Marmottan furnish the space. A suspended lamp shaped like a full moon hangs above the tables, and a sound design by Le Couturier du Son sets the mood.
For guests under 30, a youth tasting menu called Pralong 1904 begins with a walk up the Alpe from Pralong at 1904 metres. The menu costs 190 euros before drinks, runs Wednesday to Sunday until 11 April, and requires a reservation.
