Celebrated table
The story
La Table du Lavoir, in Bordeaux, serves modern cuisine at Chemin de Smith-Haut-Lafitte, Martillac, 33650, and holds two Michelin stars for excellent cooking (2026).
The kitchen builds its modern cuisine around seasonal produce and older vegetable varieties that the chefs enjoy cooking. Familiar dishes from home cooking appear on the menu, each with a twist of discovery. The plates are described as flavorful, and the dessert list leans indulgent.
At the center of the dining room stands the lavoir, a laundry basin rebuilt stone by stone in homage to the winegrowers' wives who once washed linen there in the nineteenth century. The roof frame uses eighteenth-century timber salvaged from the cellars of Lafite Rothschild. On warm days, glazed doors open onto a sheltered terrace. The wine list includes wines from neighboring Château Smith Haut Lafitte, also served by the glass, and the room is fully wheelchair accessible.
