The story
Savoy, at Eteläesplanadi 14 in Helsinki, runs a Finnish-French kitchen that holds a White Guide Very fine level rating for 2026. The restaurant has operated since 1937 beside Esplanadi Park.
Helena Puolakka, Chef Patron, returned to Finland in 2019 after more than 20 years abroad. Seven of those years were spent in three-Michelin-star kitchens in London and Paris. Her menus pair French technique with Finnish produce, from reindeer and crayfish to forest mushrooms and berries. The menu changes with the season.
Mannerheim's pike-perch and fried Baltic herring still appear beside newer plates. Puolakka's lighter vorschmack pelmeni in borscht broth has become a house classic. Herbs and flowers grow in the terrace garden, and bees on the roof supply honey each autumn.
