The story
Restaurant Pastis in Helsinki is a French kitchen at Pieni Roobertinkatu 20, and the White Guide awarded it a Fine level rating in 2026. The restaurant serves brunch, lunch and dinner, and its bistro has been part of the city's midday routine since it opened in 2013.
When the bistro opened, it changed how many Finns spent their lunch hour. A quick 30-minute break often stretched into a long, unhurried meal. The White Guide notes that the room still encourages guests to order another glass of wine and stay a little longer.
The restaurant offers outdoor seating, a bar and table service. Private parties can be hosted in a dedicated private room, and the site lists a banqueting option for larger groups. Vegetarian dishes are part of the offering. The current menu is titled "The Happiest Country in the World," with a separate menu from 1 September. The restaurant also holds a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence from 2022.
