The story
Konoba Malo Selo is an Istrian tavern at Fratrija 1 in Buje, serving traditional Istrian cuisine and holding a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, a mark for good quality cooking at good value.
The tavern is run by the Marušić family, and the kitchen works with local ingredients. The menu follows classic Istrian dishes: homemade platters of cured meats and cheese, pljukanci, ravioli with truffles and mushrooms, maneštra, and fuži in several sauces. Gault&Millau gave it 12.5 in 2026, noting that the dishes are prepared without virtuoso technique but with real care. Desserts such as crème brûlée and panna cotta close the meal.
Stone walls, wooden tables and a fireplace make the room feel warm and homely. Meat dishes are baked on the hearth, and food reaches the table quickly, still warm. Staff attend to guests through the meal. The tavern often fills, so booking ahead is advisable.
