The story
Château du Mylord, at Rue Saint-Mortier 35 in Ellezelles, serves contemporary cuisine in the Ronse area of Belgium, and Gault&Millau awarded it 14.5 points in 2026. The restaurant occupies a 19th-century country house with a white-walled, Norman-style tower.
Martin Simonart took over the house in 2023 from the Thomaes family, who had run it for forty-two years. He set out to refresh the kitchen and add contrast, working with local produce and sometimes a touch from further afield. The menus favour unexpected pairings, and the cooking is described as daring yet elegant, built on premium ingredients.
The tasting menus change with the arrivals, but the kitchen regularly sends out tartare with courgette and livèche, artichoke with anchovy and lemon, and quail with onion and corn. Fish and shellfish appear as Saint-Pierre with pea, cockle and almond, or langoustine with aubergine, garlic and miso. Desserts have included rhubarb with honey and elderflower, and cherry with rose and tarragon.
The château stands in a wooded park of about three hectares. A large terrace suits summer evenings, and an open fireplace warms the dining room in winter. Terrace service depends on the weather.
