The story

Eaust Ostend: Belgian Seafood Cooking on the Eastern Waterfront

Eaust is a Belgian restaurant at Vuurtorendok-Zuid 29 in Ostend, where Gault&Millau gave it 12.5 points in 2026. It sits on the ground floor of the Trinity building on the eastern waterfront, in the Lighthouse district. Michelin lists it as Recommended for 2026.

Chef Bram and the seasonal kitchen

Chef Bram Coenen and hostess Alicia spent about 22 years running Plassendale before opening Eaust on the eastern bank. The kitchen works with what the season and the market provide: North Sea fish, shellfish, carefully chosen meat and vegetables. The approach is direct, with respect for the ingredient.

Dishes from the sea and the grill

The menu leans toward the coast. Diners find a fish soup with North Sea fish, mussels and cockles, gravad lax with guacamole, and oven-baked prawns with honey tomatoes and herb butter. Mains include golden-fried sole with fresh fries and a rib-eye Holstein. Desserts stay classic, with crème brûlée made with Madagascan vanilla.

With Eaust on the ground floor of the Trinity building on Ostend’s eastern waterfront, Lange Nelle gains a pleasant neighbor. The Lighthouse district certainly becomes more attractive as a result. Chef Bram Coenen and hostess Alicia have been operating there for almost 22 years already...
