The story
't Korennaer, at Nieuwkerkenstraat 4 in Nieuwkerken-Waas, Belgium, is a French and modern cuisine restaurant that holds one Michelin star for 2026.
Chef Edwin Van Goethem started cooking in 1997, and Gault&Millau awards the restaurant 16 points for 2026. The guide describes his grounding in classical cuisine and his habit of reworking his own dishes. Young turbot with spinach and Dijonnaise is one plate the guide singles out.
Lunch, called "Uit de kunst," is served in two or three courses on Friday and Sunday afternoons, with a chef's choice and a welcome bite. A four-course star dinner runs on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Guests can add matching wines or alcohol-free pairings, and a five-cheese selection can replace dessert.
The interior has been renewed, and the photo gallery shows the dining room, the plates, the terrace and the eetboetiek. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating and a chef's table. Through Chef aan Huis, a starred chef can cook in private homes or at other locations, with full table service.
